A large spider has taken up residence in the front yard, stretching its very long web between the shrubs on either side of the walkway that leads to the front door. It hasn’t been in our way because we mainly go in and out through the garage. When someone comes to the door and walks through the web, such as for package delivery, the spider just rebuilds.

You can see the spider in its web on the right side of this photo, with the neighbors’ driveway as the background. Although my husband thought about getting rid of it when he mowed the lawn, he decided to leave it alone because it has not done us any harm. As for me, I wouldn’t want a spider living permanently in front of my door, but I expect it won’t be there long, as winter is coming and it will soon hide away wherever spiders go in cold weather.
